A wealth of experience

Dr Penny Abbott

Penny is an independent HR Practitioner with over 30 years of human resources management experience both globally and locally.

She has worked in the financial, mining, manufacturing, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), food and pharmaceutical industries.

She spent 3 years recently as global Head of Corporate Human Resources for the multinational Holcim Group based in Switzerland, after 8 years as Executive in charge of Human Resources first at Adcock Ingram Ltd and then later at AfriSam. In addition to her work with MDQ Associates, she heads up the Research Initiative at SABPP (The SA Board for People Practices).

She has completed an M Phil through the University of Johannesburg (UJ), researching the management of mentoring schemes and then obtained a Ph D through the University of Johannesburg in HR Management. She is a Master HR Practitioner with the SABPP.

Peter Michael Beck (CHRP)

Peter brings 12 years line banking experience coupled with 18 years of specialist knowledge and experience on the people side from the financial services industry.

His experience and special interest range from diversity, trauma debriefing, to change management and fast track development interventions.

Co-owner and director of MDQ Associates (Formerly Clutterbuck & Associates) since 2001, Peter has been very active in implementing in-house Coaching and Mentoring programs across several diverse industries ranging from cement to motor to technology and banking.

Peter also runs his own consultancy which focuses on change and assisting people with facing the challenge of “Re-wirement versus Retirement” with associates Third Life Retirement.

He is additionally involved with a programme in Uganda focusing on coaching, leadership development and change with associates PeopleSmart.

Nobantu Mpotulo

Nobantu, managing director of In Time Solutions, coaches leaders and executives both nationally and internationally.

She is currently coaching and facilitating leadership development programmes for UN managers and leaders globally.

She has an MA (Guidance and Counselling) from Durham University in the UK. Nobantu is also qualified as a Gestalt Organisational and Systems Development Practitioner with the International Gestalt Institute; she is a certified Enneagram Teacher, Enneagram Coach; and qualified as a mentor and coach trainer with Clutterbuck Associates UK.

Amongst other things Nobantu is an accredited Investors in People Trainer and Practitioner. Her work experience was initially in higher education as a student counselor, Director of Counselling Services, Director of Planning. She facilitated reconciliation workshops for victims and perpetrators of violence during the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and has since worked in higher education transformation, organisation development and coaching.
